HUMINT Analyst

Support international intelligence and research projects through rigorous research, human-source engagement, and clear, actionable analysis.

Role Overview

Black Phoenix is seeking a highly capable HUMINT Analyst to support complex international intelligence and research projects. The role combines intelligence research, human behaviour analysis, relationship-building, and an understanding of political, cultural, business, and social environments. The successful candidate will identify relevant individuals and organizations, assess their interests and motivations, develop professional relationships, and turn information gathered through research and lawful, ethical human interaction into actionable insights. This position calls for intellectual curiosity, discretion, adaptability, and sound judgment when navigating unfamiliar environments. We welcome applicants at different career stages and value demonstrated aptitude, judgment, and interpersonal skill alongside relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research individuals, organizations, industries, and markets using reliable sources and structured research methods.
  • Identify relevant stakeholders and assess their professional backgrounds, interests, incentives, and potential relevance to a project.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships through transparent, lawful, and appropriate engagement.
  • Conduct structured conversations and interviews, document findings accurately, and distinguish direct observations from interpretation.
  • Assess source credibility, identify information gaps, and corroborate important claims against independent sources.
  • Analyze relationships, motivations, cultural context, and relevant developments to produce clear, evidence-based assessments.
  • Support the planning and delivery of sensitive international projects while respecting applicable laws, consent, privacy, and professional boundaries.
  • Work closely with internal project teams to refine research questions, share findings, and deliver concise reports and briefings.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and other professional activities, including international travel as required.
  • Handle sensitive information responsibly and follow internal confidentiality, security, and record-keeping procedures.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport across different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong research, analytical, critical-thinking, and information-synthesis skills.
  • Fluent English with excellent written and spoken communication.
  • High emotional intelligence, curiosity, and the ability to understand different perspectives without jumping to conclusions.
  • Creative, resourceful thinking and the ability to approach unfamiliar problems from multiple angles.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to work under pressure, prioritize competing tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • High standards of professionalism, responsibility, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake international travel as required, subject to applicable travel and work requirements.
  • Preferred, but not required: experience in an intelligence unit or a comparable intelligence, investigative research, source-development, or human-intelligence role.
